FAQ

Orders

I made a mistake. Can I cancel my order?

We try to process our orders in a timely fashion. So, the faster you contact us, the better. We cannot guarantee that we can cancel an order unless you contact us within twelve (12) hours of ordering.

I sent an order but found something else I’d like to add. Is it too late?

As long as you haven’t received a shipping notification yet, you can probably add something to your order, but you must contact us before purchasing something to add to an existing order. Note that if you add something to an existing order more than five (5) days after your original order, there’s a chance that your order might be delayed a few extra days.

Your prices seem higher than other similar brands. What’s up with that?

There are plenty of brands out there that can offer low prices, and sometimes ridiculously so. Most of the time, it’s because of a combination of shockingly low wages in countries where less than a dollar an hour is considered a “fair wage”, cheap materials, and very high volumes of products that enables the brand to buy their materials in large quantities.

We’ve found that even brands that are made in first world countries often pay their workers $4 or $5 dollars an hour. We just don’t think that’s fair.

If you want to know more about how we determine our prices, check out the Transparency section. It’s all there!

I placed my order a few days ago but didn’t get a shipping confirmation. What’s taking so long?

Because almost every single piece you buy is made to order as you buy it, we need time to make it. This is what enables us to offer the small adjustments and the custom sizing options. You will receive your shipping notification no more than ten (10) business days after ordering.

I received my order but there’s a mistake in it, or a piece is damaged. What should I do?

Oh no! We’re so sorry! Contact us immediately and we’ll guide you through the exchange process at no cost to you. You can learn more in our Exchanges & Returns section.

Payments

What payment methods do you offer?

Our secure cart system enables you to pay with a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx) or with Shopify Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You can also pay through PayPal Express checkout.

Can I pay in a different currency?

Our website can display our prices in Canadian dollars, US dollars or Union EURO. As the system processes your payment, it will automatically convert your payment back into Canadian dollars so that our Canadian bank can process it. You don’t have to do anything special!

My payment won’t go through. What’s happening?

Even in the 21st century, banking systems are still sometimes finicky. Call your bank or credit card company. Often times, they’re just being overzealous with their fraud protection systems and might have considered that your purchase didn’t fit your usual shopping habits.

If you have a PayPal account, you can also try that as an alternative payment method.

I received my package but had to pay a fee. Why?

Customs and duties fees are set by your home country, not by us. We have no control over these and you may or may not have to pay extra fees depending on your country’s laws. Contact your Customs Agency to find out what your local laws and regulations are.

Sizing

I’m not sure what size to order, can you help?

We’ve made sure to provide a size chart with every product that offers multiple sizes. This indicates body measurements, not garment measurements. If you are still unsure after consulting it, you can always contact us with your measurements and we’ll help you figure it out.

How should I take my measurements for the best results?

Go to our Custom Sizing page, to find all the information you might need to take your measurements the same way we would.

I’m between sizes, what should I do?

Most of our pieces have some stretch in them, so they easily fit people with small measurement variations. In each product description, you’ll find a mention whether you should “size up” or “size down” if you are in-between sizes.

If you’re willing to pay a small extra for a perfect fit, go check out our Custom Sizing page. Small adjustments are no more than $10 (CAN) on most pieces.

I’m more diamond-shaped than hourglass-shaped. How can I get a good fit?

Our standard patterns are designed with an hourglass shape, which means a shape that has a visible narrowing at the waist. However, that certainly doesn’t describe everyone; it’s just a starting point. The best way to get a good fit is to take accurate measurements and to compare them with our size chart.

If the difference in measurements is less than an inch, check the product description to see if it recommends sizing up or down, and choose your size accordingly.

If you’re still unsure what size would be best, you can always contact us with your measurements and we’ll help you figure it out.

If you’re willing to pay a small extra for a perfect fit, go check out our Custom Sizing page. Small adjustments are no more than $10 (CAN) on most pieces.

I’m very tall (more than 5’10”) or very short (less than 5’3”). Will the clothes fit me?

Our standard patterns are designed so that a size Medium piece fits just right on a 5’6” frame. Sizes Small to XL usually fit well on most people between 5’3” and 5’10”. Smaller and larger sizes will fit shorter and taller body types accordingly. If these measurements don’t represent you, don’t worry!

Choose your size according to our size chart, and during your check out, leave us a note in the Note Box letting us know how tall you are.

For example, you might let us know if you are 5’11” but ordered a size 2XS, or if you ordered a size 2XL and are 5’1”. We’ll tweak the length of hems and sleeves at no extra charge.

If you’re willing to pay a small extra for a perfect fit, go check out our Custom Sizing page. Small adjustments are no more than $10 (CAN) on most pieces.

I have a body that doesn’t fit traditional shapes or gender norms, or my sense of fashion just doesn’t care for these things. Will Lygophilim clothes fit me?

Although our standard patterns are designed for a traditional hourglass figure, we’re excited for anyone to wear our clothes, no matter the body shape or how you identify! That’s why we’ve created our custom sizing options.

On our Custom Sizing page, you’ll find info on how to take your measurements the way we would, and on how to order our pieces to fit YOUR body, just right. You can let us know if you need room for breasts or extra room in the crotch. You can let us know if you’re differently-abled. You can have our clothes made for an hourglass shape, a diamond shape, a triangle shape or any other shape! We can fit absolutely any type of body!

Care

How should I wash my Lygophilim pieces?

All our clothing pieces will last longer if you take good care of them. You can consult the label attached inside any piece for the best way to care for our pieces. Cold water and soap made for delicate or dark-coloured clothing is always best. Avoiding the electric dryer will extend the lifespan of your purchases.

Perfumes and hairsprays will also wear down the fabrics faster, because they attack the fibres.

I have a piece that has heavy wrinkles. How should I remove them?

The best way to get rid of wrinkles is to wash in cold water and then hang or lay the piece flat to dry.

Can I iron my Lygophilim pieces?

We don’t recommend ironing, because it wears down the fibres in the fabric much faster. However, if you absolutely must, do so on low temperature and with a pressing cloth over the area you are pressing.

Velvet pieces should not be ironed. Ironing velvet will damage the pile texture.
